Law of Attraction & The Secret to Weight Loss!

It’s all in the Mind! Use the Power of your Mind to Create the Body of your Dreams.

Are you tired of the way your body looks and feels? Are you fed up with all the inconsistencies in diet and exercise secrets everyone is promoting? Are you frustrated that you haven’t yet managed to create your body the way you want it?  Are you sabotaging your weight loss goals over and over again?

There is a simple reason that you have the type of body you have right now, even if you’d rather not acknowledge that fact!  You simply haven’t chosen for it to be otherwise.

By working with your feelings, thoughts, intentions and goals, you can become a master creator and truly design the body you desire, regardless of your age. YOU are the source of ALL your bodily conditions… desired weight, health and fitness…or lack thereof!

By connecting to the unlimited well-being of your soul or your Higher Self, by opening up your relationship with Higher Forces, by expressing and radiating your higher qualities of inner peace, joy, love and freedom, you can become the creator of the magnificence of your physical body…. not to mention anything else you want to create or desire in your life. Not bad, eh? I am currently exploring these principles myself and creating my own ‘ideal body’ and it definitely seems to be working. Of course I am including exercise and a specific diet in my regime but mindset and visualization are also a very integral part of my routine. I’ll let you know how it eventuates!

For years, ‘positive thinking’ and goal setting were repeatedly criticized as ‘Pollyanna’ and ‘Whoo woo’, while The Law of Attraction was reduced to the category of New Age mumbo jumbo. Despite hearty criticism of the movie The Secret, (which in my humble opinion although it paved the way for many people to become aware of Quantum Science and metaphysics, unfortunately did not go into the subject deeply enough), many people are now alerted to using The Law of Attraction to deliberately co-create their world and this is a very encouraging thing.

Think and Grow Rich, the book by Napoleon Hill, which so many present day millionaires credit as their inspiration, is almost wholeheartedly a discourse on using The Law of Attraction to generate wealth, by consciously using the power of the mind as a magnet for prosperity and abundance.

Similarly if you want to transform your body (or any other aspect of your life for that matter), then you will have to change on the inside, in your mind first and then everything else will directly manifest externally as a result.

The Law of Attraction is a universal principle, which states that we attract to ourselves what we believe, feel and consistently focus on. The basic principle is that “Like attracts like.” The Law of Attraction is so much more than just positive thinking however. Nevertheless the basic tenet is that all your thoughts and beliefs do create a wish-fulfilling tree.

With the power of the vibration of your thoughts you attract circumstances into your life that resonate at the same frequency, or you could say, are aligned with the frequency of your thoughts. And guess what… You're already using this force every day because you cannot turn it off. Whatever you are thinking and picturing in your mind repeatedly on a daily basis is already on its way to you, so it's simply a matter of HOW you are using it, not WHETHER you are using it. It’s about learning to use this powerful force intentionally and deliberately.

If you are consistently getting more of the same disappointing results in your life - such as the same health issues, or the same body fat continues to return even after you lose it, then you have probably been unconsciously running old negative programs and reinforcing them with unconstructive thought patterns.

In the last few decades, neuroscientists discovered that we have the capacity to create an almost infinite number of new neural connections in our brains when we begin to run new thought patterns, estimating that it takes between 21 to 30 days to establish any new pattern in our brain. During this time, if we want to install new patterns of thought, being aware of our focus, sticking with our new rituals and being consistent with our new thought patterns is essential.

The old neural pathways are similar to grooves in a record, and if you are struggling with your health related behaviors (or behaviors in any other area of your life for that matter), you must have simply been playing the ‘old records’ over and over again!

If you were to carve a new groove into that record, it would never play the same way again; we call this ‘interrupting a pattern’. The old pattern weakens and the new one takes over. Brand new, positive thoughts, feelings and images begin to create new neural pathways. Simple yet not necessarily easy! It does take commitment and practice to install any new habit of belief and associated behavior.

You can begin the positive mental reprogramming process by writing down your goals, by changing your internal dialogue and by taking a few minutes to relax, meditate, quieten your mind and perform a session of visualizations or mental rehearsals every day (seeing yourself in your "mind's eye" not as you currently are, but as you ideally would like to be).

You are the author of whatever circumstances you are living right now and only you have the power to change that story…. provided you really want to. 

Your weight problem is a story that you may have been telling yourself for some time now. It will probably have a cast of countless supporting beliefs plus what you believe you will always find evidence for. It may have its origins in your childhood or other life experiences and the ‘story’ of your weight will include all the beliefs and attitudes you have about yourself, your body, your weight, exercise and food.

You can only treat your body as sympathetically as you feel about yourself; so if you don’t love your body the way it is now, there is no way you will be able to cajole it into releasing weight or becoming more fit, sculpted and healthy. And notice I talk about ‘releasing weight’ rather than ‘losing’ it, as you can always find again whatever you have lost! The way we ‘’language our beliefs is also super important so pay attention to how you express your thoughts about your weight and body.

Before you attempt to reduce weight you will need to get yourself into a great frame of mind but rest assured that your body will rapidly follow suit. Most of us do this backwards. We tell ourselves that we will feel better about ourselves after we lose the weight but it sadly doesn't work this way.

As The Law of Attraction states that you get more of what you focus your attention on, when you are overweight and your attention is focused on fat, food, diets, calories, rejection, dislike and what you don’t want etc. you are negatively focused, putting your attention on the ‘problem’.

The key to using The Law of Attraction for weight loss is to stay focused on the solution, and instead of focusing on what you will have to give up, on how hard it might be or how potentially challenging the weeks and months ahead might be, why not focus on what you are going to get by releasing the weight.

Earlier I said that the Law of Attraction has been working as consistently as The Law of Gravity since time immemorial, which begs the question, "So why haven’t I lost any weight yet?” In fact, you can always chose to ask the question of why you haven’t achieved pretty much any goal yet because you are focusing on the lack of a solution. After all, if all we have to do is think about something in order to bring it into our lives, then why aren’t we all rich, perfectly healthy, have the ideal body and level of fitness we dream of and are living happily ever after? (I believe that this is where the movie The Secret falls short in its information).

The simple answer is that most people, without even knowing it, don’t really think about what they want. They think about the fact that they DON’T have it. Now, if you go back briefly to the definition of the Law of Attraction – that ‘like attracts like’ – then you will see that the reason why people don’t have the things that they want is because all they ever do is think about NOT having those things.

This same concept applies to weight loss and health just as powerfully as it applies to everything else. A lot of people want to reduce their weight, but rather than think about how wonderful their life will be once they have lost the weight, they instead think about how miserable they are because they HAVEN’T lost the weight!

When you think about your body and losing weight, what thoughts fill your mind? Do you focus on the love handles and the wobble of your thighs? Do you constantly think, "I need to lose weight"?

The Law of Attraction tells us that we get what we ask for, so, if we are asking to lose weight, the Universe will arrange things to give you what you want - the condition of needing to lose weight. (i.e. being overweight!) If you were at your perfect weight, would you think, "I need to lose weight"? No, you would think, "I am so happy and grateful to be at my perfect weight". So what you have to to do is feel those ‘feel good, happy thoughts’ of being at your ideal weight PRIOR to it actually being visibly manifest in your world right now. People are always saying, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” The Law of Attraction says, “Believe it and you will see it!”

Consider this: If you believe you need to lose weight, which of the following statements describes your thoughts and feelings when you stand in front of the mirror in the buff?

(a) I am so sexy since I have my weight under control that I have infinite confidence and self esteem. I can date anyone that I please and my only problem is deciding which tiny piece of swimwear to wear this summer to show off my new svelte and sculpted body.

(b) I am so FAT! I can’t even stand to look at myself in the mirror, so how can I expect anyone else to want to look at me let alone be attracted to me? I’ll be lucky if I don’t have to take my clothing size up another notch or two at the rate I’m going.

Now, be honest. Which one of those statements do you think comes closer to the way that most people who need to reduce their weight think of themselves?

Once again referring back to the Law of Attraction – If you think miserable, sad, guilty or any negative thoughts influenced by low self esteem, then the Law of Attraction will dutifully bring you more things to feel depressed about. In fact, the more miserable you are about any particular subject, the more powerfully you will attract more of the same, given that that is your primary point of focus.

So the answer to utilizing the power of the Law of Attraction for weight loss is to simply stop thinking about your situation in such a negative manner! Kick off a habit of thinking positive, confident thoughts of satisfaction, smaller clothing sizes and showing more flesh at the beach, pool or gym!

Whenever I am using The Law of Attraction, whether for myself or with my clients, I always use the following questions that are the foundation for becoming 3 a powerful magnetizer…

What do I want?

Why do I want it?

Most importantly… How will it make me FEEEEEEEEL?

To release weight successfully you must know why you want to do it because if you have a big enough reason or reasons it will give you great leverage but most importantly you will need to feel in your heart that you can release the weight and how amazingly wonderful, sexy, positive about yourself, etc you will feel as a result. Combining this with positive images in your mind’s eye profoundly adds to your potential for success.

By concentrating on what you desire, why you want it and how great it will make you feel, you are effectively draw the energy toward you that will give you what you desire.

Consider what you really want and make a well-worded request. State, "I want to weigh 130 pounds by Christmas" or "I want to create my ideal body and weight by next summer so I will feel comfortable in my new fabulous body at the beach".

Remember, your request should state what you want and not what you no longer desire. You will want to create a clear vision of your goal and one thing that can help you is to create a Vision Board which is simply made up of pictures that you cut from magazines and paste onto a piece of poster board (whatever size works for you). Once more you will be focusing on already having reached your desired outcome. Cut out pictures of people exercising, playing sports, cycling, dancing, and laying on a beach in bathing suits or simply enjoying shopping for fashionable clothes - whatever you picture yourself doing once you are at your perfect weight.

As the human mind cannot tell the difference between that which is real or vividly imagined, you can try to ‘trick’ your mind by playing some mental games: why not take a marking pen and write the clothing size you want to be on your clothing labels? Put a sticker with your desired weight over the display on your scales. If you ever find yourself at a crossroads where you want to overindulge in food or avoid exercising, visualize yourself at your perfect weight. Your mind may consider these options to be childish and stupid but remember that the thoughts your mind is currently holding as gospel are not supporting your weight release either so why not try something unconventional? You have nothing to ‘lose’ but weight…There are many famous quotes to the effect that you cannot solve a problem with the same thinking which created it, so why not just give some atypical thinking a go?

As you shower and run the soap over the different parts of your body, reinforce the way you wish these body parts to be. "I am so happy and grateful to have strong, slender arms, firm buttocks, toned thighs, etc." As you pull on your clothing, think, or say aloud, "I am so happy and grateful to be a size XXXX” See your future self in your imagination and feel those appreciative thoughts in anticipation. Remember… believe it and you WILL see it.
