A Lymphatic Solution to a Sluggish Problem

Winter is with us and even with the best will in the world we are still exposed to all sorts of toxins and germs everyday and therefore run the risk of those annoying infections, colds and ‘flu.
All the correct foods and supplements can help ward these off but they cannot be 100% effective, 100% of the time.
So what to do during those times when you are feeling ‘under the weather’, or even felt like you may be ‘coming down with something’?
A Lymphatic Drainage Massage is the answer!
“LYMPHATIC WHAT?”
Have you heard the term but never looked into what it is all about? Once you read this you’ll kick yourself for not having tried it sooner.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage is an intervention therapy that has been in use since the early 1900’s and in common use in many European hospitals. It is intended to help the body produce a free-flowing lymphatic system promoting a healthy lymphatic system with a holistic approach. It is a very gentle form of massage which will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage can help to relieve fluid congestion resulting in swollen ankles, tired puffy eyes and swollen legs due to pregnancy. It is an effective component of the treatment and control of lymphoedema and in the promotion of healing of wounds and burns and reduction of scar tissue and stretch marks. Lymphatic Drainage is an ideal form of massage after the lymph vessels and nodes are destroyed by radiotherapy or removed during cancer surgery.
Other benefits include improved immune system, reduced fluid retention, toxin removal and enhanced recovery from exercise. It can promote the healing of fractures, torn ligaments, sprains and lessens the pain caused by these. It can help improve many chronic conditions such as sinusitis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, acne and other skin conditions.
The lymphatic system is a complex network of vessels and ducts that move lymph throughout the body and is responsible for moving toxins away from healthy cells and carrying germ-fighting materials to cells when they are under attack by viruses, etc.

Lymph is to our lymphatic system what blood is to our circulatory system. Though lymph moves through the lymphatic system, it does not have its own pumping mechanism and relies on our muscle movements to ‘pump’ lymph around.
If the lymph is not flowing freely it eventually fills up the pockets or sinus areas and blocks them up. It then could then cause swelling, add weight on us & become a breeding ground of infection. As you can imagine this can easily lead to any number of sinus, joint and even weight related problems.
Imagine combining the Sunrider products formulated to enhance the body’s waste and toxin removal as well as improve and strengthen your immune system, such as Calli, Fortune Delight and the NuPlus formulas, with Lymphatic Drainage? Yes, you will be giving yourself the very best fighting chance to either dodge those nasties or at least reduce the symptoms and duration dramatically.

As a Certified Myotherapist I am trained and skilled in MLD and know exactly where all of your lymph nodes are located throughout your body. By a series of gentle, rhythmic massaging of the skin your lymph nodes can be stimulated to open and drain. The massaging is done by hand and the treatment is very comfortable and relaxing, and not at all aggressive. A typical session can involve drainage of the head, neck, abdomen, trunk, & your extremities, depending on the condition being treated and will last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
I am a Myotherapist in Bentleigh East, Victoria and I use Lymphatic Drainage Massage regularly to treat my clients for a number of issues and dysfunction including the onset of colds and ‘flu and to help with the healing of post- varicose vein removal operation.
Bod-i-Clinic not only offers Lymphatic Drainage Massage but a wide range of modalities to help with a wide range of muscular injuries and problems.
